What makes a Miniature Schnauzer Special?
Miniature Schnauzers are the most popular of the Schnauzers and are classified as terriers. They range in size from 12 to 14 inches
at the shoulder. They are considered highly trainable and have a good disposition. They can adapt to environments as varied as country
living, with lots of space, to living in city apartments.
Schnauzers are protective and make excellent watch dogs. They do not shed but their coat does need grooming. The AKC (American Kennel Club) recognizes three official colors:
- Black
- Black & Silver
- Salt & Pepper
Other colors that are advertised for Miniature Schnauzers are not officially recognized and may not reflect good breeding quality.
The AKC offers additional information about the breed.
